A Collaborative investment that transforms a local community

The Summer of Impact was designed to transform Lawrenceville thru strategic internships that did the following:

  • Decreased the opportunity gap for students in the Central Gwinnett Cluster.

  • Expand the social, personal, and professional networks of the next generation workforce.

  • Create enrichment opportunities for children and students thru leadership development and community engagement.

  • Engage the 6 sectors of a community thru employing rising juniors and seniors from Central Gwinnett High School

Summer of Impact

10 students, 5 employers, 1 impacted community

The internship was the result of a collaboration and partnership between Central Gwinnett HS, the city of Lawrenceville, and Impact46. Together we engaged local businesses as we invited them to participate by hiring an intern for the 8 weeks of summer. Our business partners were: Shuma Sports, Peach State Credit Union, Webb/Tanner/Powell Law Firm, Impact46/Sports Serve, and the City of Lawrenceville. Our 2018 inaugural summer had 10 interns.

In 2019 we will more than double the number of summer interns as well as introduce new community partners. Hearts to Nourish Hope is a local nonprofit that works with 16-24 year olds. They have helped us secure funding and internships for graduating seniors from Central Gwinnett HS and Discovery HS. We are also seeing emerging partnerships with local businesses as they use their particular skills to invest in the students during our weekly leadership workshops.
